Pitino would definitely be fun, but I think we'd have to anticipate it being a short stay... which is the exact situation we completely botched last time.

...and he can re-open the million dollar saloon to get the recruits lap dances and have the NCAA give us a double dog program wide death penalty. No more sports at SMU. Yeah great idea.

His style of play fits mid-major programs and the types of players that are available to us. At UT where one and dones reside, they don't want to risk NBA life by pushing their limits which is what he requires.

Didn't he win the NIT?

Let's see:
Ricky Jr has landed two top 50s, a #62, and a top 100 national recruit in his last four classes and numerous top 200s to fill out the classes beating out Kansas, Xavier, Georgia Tech, Texas, Arizona, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and A&M for recruits. He may just be recruiting the DFW area better than we are and he lives in Minneapolis (see reference to two top Dallas recruits above).
Non conference wins against the likes of Texas A&M, Utah, Washington, and Oklahoma State (2x), Clemson in last two years vs. what Jank has done with his OOC schedule.
Numerous top 25 wins in last couple of years including #3 Ohio State and #19 Michigan this year. Swept #13 Purdue last year and beat a few other top 25s.
2nd Round of NCAA tournament last year. First round of NCAAs 3 years ago. 1 NIT Championship.
Imagine what he could do in AAC vs the Big10 Schedule he currently has to deal with...
