I swear we played in the SWC, then the WAC 16, then CUSA...both of the post-SWC conferences being entertaining & fairly strong mid majors. Not exactly ALWAYS playing in an AWFUL conference, but, hey, that's cool anyways.

Dear Marquette Troll: 1- Marquette had never played in a quality basketball conference until 2005. 2. MIlwaukee is one of the poorest cities in America 3. Milwaukee has terrible weather 4. Milwaukee is "small time" and gets smaller by the year 5. Moody renovations coming 6. Dallas has 20x more high school basketball talent than the entire state of Wisconsin 7. Buzz likes to play golf, hates German beer and cheese 8. Your AD sucks 9. You suck Lol wrote:Lol. This whole topic is hilarious. What in the world, beyond being in Texas, does SMU have to offer Buzz Williams over Marquette? You have 1 Final Four appearance, in 1956. Buzz Williams wasn't even born then. Your last conference championship was in 1993, and you have always played in an AWFUL conference. SMU hasn't been relevant in sports since they cheated and got the Death Penalty in football. MU just took 2nd place in the Big East and is in the Sweet 16. SMU will be a consistent bottom feeder in the Big East and won't make the NCAA Tournament for quite some time. SMU's basketball facilities are 2nd rate at best. MU's practice facility is better than where SMU plays. State of the art beauty. And they play in an NBA arena. The SMU team travels commercial. MU charters its own plane both for team travel and for Buzz alone to recruit. Your program is at a high school freshman level compared to high major programs. Buzz gets paid $2.6 million a year. Are you going to up that to $4 million a year? Good luck. How do you recruit kids to SMU? "Hey guys, come be part of the 12th best D1 basketball program in our state and get your [deleted] kicked in the Big East every night, traveling thousands of miles to every away game." MU has a national championship, 2 Final Fours, Dwyane Wade, and 6 current NBA players. If Buzz wanted to get back down south he would have gone to Texas A&M or Oklahoma last year. Real basketball programs. He has said multiple times he would be at MU as long as MU will have him. MU isn't getting rid of him. This is a non-story. You might as well rumor Coach K to SMU with assistants Roy Williams, Tom Izzo, Bob Knight, John Wooden reincarnated, and John Callipari. Support staff includes Thad Matta and Bully Donovan. Time start making a new list if you think you're getting someone the caliber of Buzz Williams. Hint: start with an upcoming assistant coach looking for a shot as a head coach.
Good luck with your search. It ain't gonna be Buzz Williams.

I really am fond of Marquette and have been cheering them on all tournament long. Reading that thread is making me hesitate on that though :p Even if we fail with Buzz, this is how you start to build small rivalries with a new conference mate. Cheers to all the Golden Eagle fans reading this!

Yes, all joking aside, good luck to Marquette. We should root for all of the BE teams, other than Syracuse.

well lets just say that a few years of Milwalkee would make anyone claw through a concrete wall with their fingernails to get out - it will be like a prison break. Dallas so far exceeds Milwalkee that if counters everything else that the fly by canadian (LOL) said.
one correction - our facilities will be among the best in the nation in 2 yrs. Crum practice facility is already among the best practice facilities in the country - and Moody will be an amazing venue when complete.
i dont know why he would stay if we can match the money. He'll have us at their level in no time, and he will be warm and happy and lot looking at fat hairy beastly women while he does it.

Buzz is staying at Marquette. Book it. But since you guys are clearly delusional, why not make a run at Phil Jackson while you're at it. I hear he's available.

We have already used that joke. Please try for some new material. As for your prediction-we will see. We have doubted before and surpassed expectations e g JJ and BE entrance. We can do it do it again. Seems like a lot of smoke for nothing to be going on.

The problem with having a "Ladies" Night in Milwaukee is finding any Ladies. A diet of beer and brats ....

If we can't outspend Marquette, we aren't the SMU I know and love.

You left out one very important statistic. Milwaukee has the highest per capita number of alcoholics in the US. Ugly women, long winters, cold = drinking before you go home.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Catch the show "Lillyhammer" with Steve Van Zandt -- may conjure up some thoughts of Milwaukee.
