Sports Marketing/Management competition

So, do you think you're a BIG SHOT? Do you want to be the next Mark Cuban? If you love sports, are interested in sports marketing/management, are quick on your feet, and enjoy a challenge, I'd like to encourage you to take your shot as part of an exciting new marketing competition, presented by the Cox School of Business and SMU Athletics.

Twelve SMU students will be selected for an "Apprentice" style competition, where they will compete for a HUGE PRIZE PACKAGE. Initially students will be divided in teams for various marketing competitions / challenges. Some of these challenges may be related to marketing a specific product, generating enthusiasm for SMU Basketball, or creating athletic promotions.

Tasks will be assigned one hour before tip-off on January 29, February 10, 12, 16, 24, and March 3, with two students eliminated each week. You must be able to attend all competitions to participate. The BIG SHOT will be announced on March the 5th, and will walk away will a fabulous prize package which includes TWO ROUND TRIP TICKETS on AMERICAN AIRLINES, gift certificates for The Palm restaurant, and other gifts from various sponsors!

If you're interested, simply complete the application and return in to the BBA Admissions/Career Services Office (254 Maguire) or the Athletic Marketing Office (Moody Coliseum, room 101) by 2:00 p.m. on January 20, 2005.

New marketing idea.

Get some Ford dealer to contribute 4 Mustangs to SMU athletic department (no for players use). Now when you attend an SMU football or basketball game, you keep your half of the torn ticket stub. At the end of football season a drawing will be held from all the ticket stubs collected at the gate. Two lucky football attendies will win a Ford Mustang. So if you buy tickets and don't show, you are not entered. If you buy season tickets and attend all the games, you have five or six chances to win.

Do the same for basketball.
Just send 'da money.

Sounds like a good idea, but isn't there some law that says you need to have a way for people to enter without making a purchase?

That may just be for non-profit organizations. Is the SMU Athletic Dept. a
non-profit? Yeah, probably :)
