I checked out the Virginia rivals thing to see if those clowns still thought Tubby Smith was coming.

Anyway, there is a thread on there that says some guy said his source told him the new Cavaliers boss is Matt Doherty.

If you have a subscription, knock yourself out. I don't so I don't know what others said. Read and decide for yourself

They thought Tubby was coming the last time they had an opening (when they hired Leitao). They are tracking a flight from St. Paul to Charlottesville right now.

Anyway, here's a good (free) board to follow that madness. No mention of Doh, from what I can see.

bet those UVA guys got Tony Bennett confused with "that coach at SMU who didn't win many games" and someone said "oh...I know his name...wait a second...Bennett?" and that morphed into Doherty.

So, someone else start a thread that says Doherty to Wazzou??

Washington Post reported today it was Bennett of Wazzu going to Virginia. Doh is still our coach.

Now, I can sleep better. FWIW, I thought that rumor on that fan board was so bizarre. Even with his ACC ties, how could Virginia even risk that given how much his crash-and-burn time has gone here, and how would that sell to their fans?

Oh, they could have used that National Coach of the Year crap.
