Obama's bro in law...like BO, not sure he can do it, but we would all feel better about ourselves, until the L's starting to pile up, then he could blame Cal for everything...

Heh,

Funny reading the Memphis boards, they all hate Drew and cannot believe they would stoop to hire him. Those guys need a reality check.

Everyone seems to want either Reggie Theus or Avery Johnson, I am not sold on the NBA route, they tend to be lazy/inexperienced recruiters, hoping that their "rep" as an NBA baller will be enough to attract top kids.

See Drexler down in Houston, who wouldn't even bother to show up for the taping of his own coaches show.

bagice - Theus has coached college before, and has had success - at NEW MEXICO STATE, of all places.

True, he could be a good fit, although I would much rather have Drew if I was picking.

The uniformed Memphis fan looks at his overall losing record, not putting any credance to the fact that he had about 5 total players that were only there because they were not attractive to any other schools.

The informed Memphis fan sees him as a great rebuilder but are unsure how he would do at maintaining a program that is in good shape, and are leery of their underperformance this year, plus the fact he has yet to win a NCAA tournament game..

Dunno how it is going to play out, they are having a tough time finding someone.

Reggie Theus is a great coach. He won the State Championship with the guy from Law & Order and a girl on the team! Memphis should be so lucky to get him.

Memphis is still scrambling, a name gets thrown out, then it doesn't work...

Names still on board are Theus, Avery Johnson, and Dirk Kellogg.

The memphis boosters seem to be lin love with Theus, but there is conflicting reports of whether they are actually looking at him or if he is even interested. All of these guys are also hoping for a look by Arizona.

One note about Theus that some have brought up is that he is a lazy recruiter, so maybe I wasn't too far off of my first assessment, although he did have success.

Theus is a Patino disciple..had an asst or two from L'ville on the staff at NMSU. I wonder if that's affecting Memphis pursuing him one way or the other.

Top two of Avery and Theus wouldn't be bad.

You mean Clark Kellogg? Has he ever coached?
