Larry Brown ABA Question

Postby PonyTime » Wed Dec 18, 2013 3:57 pm

Having never watched the ABA - Did the ABA coaches usually wear these duds? Was it an ABA thing? Was it a Larry Brown thing? Was it just the 70s?

The Bell Bottom Overalls are over the top...

everybody in the 70s wore those duds.
I remember riding my bike up to Moody many times on a weekend to see the Dallas Chapparels play. For a few years it was like Homecoming because there were so many SMU, A&M players on the team. Somebody remember some of the locals in the Chaps. I think John Beasley and Charles Beasley were on team.

Hard to believe clothes today look more like 1940 than 1970! Wow!

Have watched my share of Cowboys games from the 70s and I don't remember seeing Tom Landry looking like that - but perhaps it has more to do with Larry Brown's age vs Tom Landry's at the time.

Don't get me wrong - I think it is pretty cool and rather unique. We need to have a turn back the clock 70s game and have Larry wear one of those outfits...

Pretty much my wardrobe other than the overalls. I had blue and yellow stripped bell bottoms rather than plaid.

Combination of the 70s, youngER Larry, and the ABA. But mostly the 70s.

This one is best. So angry looking but in a total clown outfit. Juxtaposition.

Denny Holman made the team for a short period of time circa. 1968. Cannot remember if Carol Hoosier was with the Chaps or another ABA team.

That would be a great bit...if it was against a weak non conference opponent, LB might dress up too
