Top 25?

Postby Bballer » Mon Dec 11, 2000 1:36 pm

Has anyone seen an updated top 25 list today? I just want to know how many votes we got or where we are located ranking wise. I am not planning on a top 25 spot, but after almost winning against Tennessee, I would think we opened some eyes and pulled in a few more votes.

Please let me know if anyone has seen anything.
Thanks in advance.

Saw on the ESPN/USA Today poll we received six votes. This was through Dec. 10 so I guess it takes into account our last two games. If we go on a fiv/six game win streak, we will crack the top 25.

I thought after playing Tenn. such a close game, that we would recieve more recognition than that. Oh well.

I guess that the voters only looked at the final score - a nine-point deficit. Without having watched the game, they wouldn't know we had a 14-point lead at one time, and we led at half-time.

We after winning the whole game and losing a close one against the now #4 team in the nation, SMU did not receive any more votes than before! That pisses me off. Image

Better pissed off than pissed on. Let's face it, until we can beat a top 25 team, we aren't going to be in the top 25. Having led at one point, even if by 14, doesn't mean much other than that we can compete. The fact we have gotten any votes at all is pretty good, don't you think?

Let's win the WAC and go up from there!
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Good points PK. When do we get another crack at a top 25 team? Anyone know?

Most likely we will play OU unless us or them loses in the tourney later this month.

PK, I think ponytalk was pissed because SMU did not get any more votes than last week.

I agree we do not belong in the top 25, YET, but we should at least get a couple more votes after we have shown we can compete.

Don't you think?

Bballer, I know why ponytalk was pissed, but what have we done to get anyone else that excited about us? Yeah, WE are excited (and a little biased), but we are only 6 real games into the season. If we can continue to dominate and win our games and with maybe a win over OU we'll start to get our votes. Only two WAC teams are getting any votes (SMU & Tulsa) and we have more votes than the other one. Go Ponies!!!!
