Re: Poll: 1 scholarship left since Tolbert committed to SMUBased on the highlight vids, I'd take Wood. McCaw looks like he weighs 140 lbs.
Re: Poll: 1 scholarship left since Tolbert committed to SMUDarrick Wood had a rather marginal year and he took a bunch of shots to get to 13 ppg. Only 31% from 3 point line. Recovering from injury. Very little buzz about him it seems for months. I doubt if he's really in the picture. Checkered academic past at multiple high school/JUCO schools too which makes him more of gamble we probably don't need to take. Also needs to make 2.5 GPA to even become eligible under new NCAA standards-I think he may have attended 3 JUCOs-so its a fair question. Interestingly his own JUCO classifies him as a Freshman-mistake?

Re: Poll: 1 scholarship left since Tolbert committed to SMU
I would rate those chances as very low since he's going to be a senior next year. You can bury him on the bench -- why was he in this game -- but unless he's graduating in the spring, don't look for that.
Re: Poll: 1 scholarship left since Tolbert committed to SMU
He graduates in December. He technically could transfer somewhere and play right away after graduation. Crandall and Yanick are the two most likely possibilities for attrition.
Re: Poll: 1 scholarship left since Tolbert committed to SMUOn fans thinking SMU is no longer a player for Turner, I would understand that thinking but don't agree with it either. If you think you're still in it with Turner -- and SMU has every reason to believe that based on what I've seen -- you stay in it until you're told you're no longer in it.
I voted McCaw. Pretty good finisher around the rim. And his shot is something this team really really needs. Basketball has become a year round sport for this program. April is just as important as January.
Re: Poll: 1 scholarship left since Tolbert committed to SMU
Crandall could graduate in December but we could not use his scholarship until he graduates. Who would even be out there worth getting at that time? #HammerDown
Re: Poll: 1 scholarship left since Tolbert committed to SMUWhile SMU will pursue this hardship waiver, the only concern I would have is if the NCAA wouldn't grant it because he's transferring D1 schools from within the state of Texas. For a kid like Mike Mitchell, his chances of getting his hardship waiver cleared are probably better because he's going from Ohio to Texas for family reasons.
A 6-hour drive from DFW to Lubbock may cause some people to say, "We're very sorry for the loss of your father, but you're still going to have to sit out for 2014-15.'' I would disagree with that outcome for selfish reasons but I'm also saying that outcome is something to consider.
Re: Poll: 1 scholarship left since Tolbert committed to SMUThe other issue is that his father passed away in the fall of 2012. He had the summer of 2013 to transfer and chose not to. I wonder if the NCAA considers that.
Re: Poll: 1 scholarship left since Tolbert committed to SMUTo counter that, the NCAA is getting hammered in the court of public opinion by a variety of parties. They may just rubber-stamp it to avoid another source of public haranguing.
Re: Poll: 1 scholarship left since Tolbert committed to SMUWith the public reaction to the Rutgers transfer that was in the same situation I would think he would get it.
