Read that after Hartford, next two will be in Orlando where Magic play.

Strange that Orlando got a 2 year deal, but perhaps city is really putting up $$$$

1) the XL Center is in Hartford - Not Storrs. Storrs is in the sticks.
2) there are no Metro North commuter trains between NYC and Hartford. While doing it on Amtrak or by car is possible, I would not recommend it.
3) The Mohegan Sun casino isn't that far. I would stay there.

I've done the Amtrak. Not terrible, but wouldn't want to have to do it twice a day.

you could fly into Hartford and Amtrak to NYC. looking at below schedule as low as $30 one way 2 3/4 hours. to drive would be about 2 hours but could have lots of traffic and high tolls.
meanwhile you include NYC with lots of stuff to do.
Amtrak is a nice way to travel. comfortable seats. bar car. drops you off in heart of NYC (Penn Station)

also you could include Boston, Amtrak to Hartford, Amtrak to NYC. lots to see.

UCONN has loyal following from within the state. I would expect sell outs, hence why it's in Hartford

Orlando isn't a bad spot, although I fear attendance might be abysmal unless UCF or USF is a contender

I wonder if Dallas made an offer? I wish we would while Larry is still here. Driving distance for UH, Memphis, and Tulsa, and it's one of the most accessible cities in the country by air

I was going to go on a rant about Hartford and Orlando but thought I would look for some evidence to back up my negativity. I am pleasantly surprised to see that I am off base a bit; in fact I would have ordered them completely opposite than below based on my assumptions and lack of experience. Plus we can bring our sticks to Orlando and enjoy the sunshine.

Ratings from walkscore.com

FedEx Forum, Memphis: 74 (very walkable)
AAC, Dallas: 82 (very walkable)
Amway Center, Orlando: 88 (very walkable)
XL Center, Hartford: 91 (walker's paradise)

(for reference, my downtown Dallas condo scores a 98 and Moody Coliseum scores an 80)

IMHO: Not a great idea. You'll be spending most of your vacation on a train. If you rent a car you'll be spending it on traffic. It would be kind of like staying in Dallas for a tournament in Waco. (although if you told me you were doing THAT, I'd understand why)

Mohegan Sun is not a bad idea.

I am going to lobby for neutral site, Verizon Arena in Little Rock for the future.

Amtrak doesn't offer enough trips into the city and aren't very reliable.

When my coworkers and I go into the city, we do it two ways:
1) drive. It takes about 2 hours.
2) drive to the train stations in New Haven or Stamford. From there, we catch Metro North to GCS.

What's wrong with Hartford? It's a pretty cool town, actually.

I agree but traveling up there is not ideal for most teams in the conference.
