HUGE COMMIT!

Postby Bballer » Wed Sep 05, 2001 9:19 pm

SMU has received an oral commitment from one of the top recruits in the nation. Lincoln point guard Bryan Hopkins said he committed Wednesday to play for the Mustangs. Oral commitments are non-binding. The first day a recruit can sign a national letter of intent is Nov. 14.
This is huge! Lets hope he keeps his word.

This could be bigger than Sasser. Next year the Q will be a Sr. Simpson/Castro and the rest of this freshman class will have a year under their belts.

If Dement cannot take this team to the tourney this year and then take them deep into the tourney the next year, we might need a change.

Tubbs is doing his job, the rest is up to the leadership of Mike Dement.

You think the Ponies have the talent to Dance this year? Dont think so. Fresno and Tulsa are both loaded with returning players. Utep and Hawaii have more returning production than SMU. This team has potential to surprise some people this year, but its far from expected by most.

Hopkins gives the Ponies more than ample insurance in case Voc's knee continues to bother him. I've seen Hopkins play, and he's already better. The offense will be in good hands when Damon Hancock graduates.
