Question for anyone who was around in 1979 (When Eric Dickerson committed to SMU)? I am really excited to see SMU get a player that could possibly and more than likely will be the best player in college basketball next year! Is this the same kind of excitement people had when Dickerson committed to SMU?

I was a rising Junior the year SMU signed Dickerson / James and other big name players.
It was a huge deal to get Dickerson but the overall quality of the class also got fans excited.

I would say - yes - EM signing, the trajectory of the team, and the Moody environment has the SMU faithful just as excited as when Dickerson signed.

I have been a season ticket holder for BB and FB for many years and this is the most excited I've been since the 1982 Cotton Bowl.

BTW: Look at all the Kansas players projected to go as lottery picks. Does MT really want to join that traffic jam? I had no idea the 2 incoming KU freshmen were so highly rated.

The thing to consider is that Turner's position (opposite CA) is where KU is weakest. Cliff and Oub are men among boys.

Wow, I knew Mudiay was a projected lottery pick, but I had no clue that he's seen as a potential 1st pick. Hopefully, his talent will encourage Turner to go with SMU--it'd be pretty cool for SMU to have potentially two lottery picks in the 2015 draft.

Also, as a Michigan man, I'm digging LeVert as the 5th overall pick; it's been really fun to watch him develop his game these last two seasons.

I don't think there is any less of a logjam for Turner in KS than here. Ellis and Alexander are all big time players and they also have Mickelson (transfer) and Traylor... that group compares to Tolbert, Cunningham, Moreira, Moore and Kennedy in quality if not quantity. I think you could see both Turner and Moore get some PT at the 3 in crazy big lineups if they sign Turner.

FWIW: DraftExpress projects Mudiay as the 3rd overall pick in the 2015 draft.

Not quite right. Alexander was on ESPN last week saying he was trying to get Turner to come to KU next year because Coach Self said that he would move Alexander to the 4 and Turner would start at the 5. Plus if Alexander does not pass clearinghouse then there is that issue. CMF knows what he is talking about.

I think he would start here, too. Just saying that there could be a logjam at either place. He's going to get his minutes tho if he works his @ss off.

I'm surprised they have Austin Nichols coming out of Memphis after his soph campaign and going so high.

That DraftExpress list has Jabari Bird (SG from Cal who lit it up against us) going in the middle of the first round, and Tashawn Thomas getting drafted as well. Interesting

What's more amazing than Mudiay as #1 is that about five guys SMU played this year were on that projected draft. Two from Memphis, two from Cal, and one from Arkansas.

Not surprised about Shaq Goodwin and the other Memphis big guy rated so high. Good players.
