New to the board. My son attends SMU. I have been enjoying the BB season. Just wanted to post some recent news on MT that might not have be posted yet.

Welcome and thanks for sharing. I was loving the SBnation article until they said "Markel Kennedy". :-)

The Daily Texan article was interesting in it's negativity, but points out that Texas IS a football first school. Something that isn't said about Kansas or recently SMU. Plus, it would be hard to give up being coached by Brown for a year. Here's hoping MT sees it that way.

Wow! This is a ridiculous article for the UT newspaper. I think this is worse than our famous attendance article from our football player. The SMU article was at least trying to rally SMU fans to support the team-this article appears to be rooting against the school's own team

Interesting article from the Daily Texan. This board would melt down if a similar article appeared in the Daily Campus. Would be entertaining.

Yes, and it will only get better.

I've come to the realization that SMU (basketball) has arrived. Just wait until we make a deep run in the tourney. LB has put us on the map in a big way - up to us to keep it going (keep Moody "magical" and hire/keep the right coaches/recruiters after he leaves -- he created the template/blue print and PROVED it works here).

i couldn't get past the first line in the Daily Texas article.

"Basketball fans dream about walking through the tunnels at Allen Fieldhouse or hitting a buzzer-beater against North Carolina at Cameron Indoor Stadium."

I thought the sentence was terrible because it said basketball fans instead of basketball players, but I do not see the problem with the part you bolded. What am I missing? You did consider the fact that the author meant that someone playing for Duke could hit a buzzer beater against North Carolina at Cameron, right?

Did we pay someone off to publish that article in the Daily Texan? Or did Evan Berkowitz receive a termination notice and given the rest of the week to work?

Nice.

Honestly, I can't imagine why any student-athlete would want to play any sport at Texas.
