UConn/Duke at Meadowlands

“@ESPNAndyKatz: UConn, Duke will square off at Meadowlands http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketb ... nds-season via @espncbb”

I hate these venues but it's not going away.

When I first read this, I thought the game was going to be in MetLife Stadium. In December

The Izod Center instead of Madison Square Garden or Barclays? Seems like an odd venue selection for a big time game in the NYC area.

Should be a great chance for The American to make a huge statement on a big stage.

The Izod Center is not a big stage. In terms of NY area venues, it ranks well behind MSG, Barclays and the Prudential Center. Heck, it might rank behind the dump that the Islanders play in.

Didn't The American just make a big statement on a very large stage? Pretty hard to top that.

Perfect.

Maybe he meant it was a chance for the ACC to make a statement on a big stage.

Duke playing UCONN at the gym in my neighborhood is a big stage IMHO.

For sure, Meadowlands are right outside NYC. Will be an awesome match-up.

Most likely the choice of venue has to do with scheduling. Barclays and The Garden are most likely tougher and more expensive book. Add to that the games the two teams already have on their schedules. add to that the fact that Izod probably made them an offer they couldn't refuse. Then add the fact that the TV money is probably the same at any of the venues. Then add the fact that both teams fans would travel to any of the three.

Conclusion: 1+1+1+1= Duke Sucks.
