I agree that this is a good get but since Buzz Williams was not at VT last year are you talking about James Johnson who was fired last year? "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: Virginia Tech transfer Ben Emelogu to SMUDefinitely a good get for the '15-'16 season and that' one way to get the EM bad taste out of your mouth, go bring in more talent.

Re: Virginia Tech transfer Ben Emelogu to SMUWhy was Emelogu so poorly followed as a recruit. No stars?
Re: Virginia Tech transfer Ben Emelogu to SMUDidn't he lead his team to the 5A Championship game-I think it was a surprising run so his star may have risen later. He committed in October before SGP had an unprecedented great season so he was off the market before a nice Senior year

Re: Virginia Tech transfer Ben Emelogu to SMUThis 247.com article lists a lot more quality offers (including SMU) and explains why he was over looked as an underclassman:
Emelogu, who had taken a previous official visit to TCU on the weekend of Sept. 28, also had offers from the likes of Marquette, Washington, SMU, Texas Tech and others, along with the Horned Frogs. This past weekend really sold him on Virginia Tech, something that no other school was able to do. “They’re going to have a very nice system, they’re in the ACC and the student body is amazing. All of those things along with the coaches really sold me (on Tech).†Emelogu is currently unrated by 247Sports. Compared to some other guys, he really slid under the radar, at least publicly, nationally. A lot of that can be attributed to the fact that he had to sit out the whole summer on the AAU circuit due to an injury. Once he was fully healthy and started having individual workouts, the offers began pouring in. “Yeah, I broke two fingers, my pinky and my middle finger, so I was out the whole summer. It was really tough watching other kids play, wishing that I could play. I saw my recruiting go down so I really wanted to be out there. It hurt me bad. At the same time, it really made me hungry for the game.†http://virginiatech.247sports.com/Artic ... Re: Virginia Tech transfer Ben Emelogu to SMUI saw VT play a couple of times last season and Emelogu stood out. I remember thinking that we could definitely use him on our team. He was highly underrated coming out of HS. GREAT get. Plus, he'll have a year to learn under LB and we should expect big things from him in 15-16.

So, do we thank you for putting things in motion to get him here?
Re: Virginia Tech transfer Ben Emelogu to SMU
Not sure, but Emelogu plays ALOT harder and tougher than Keith right now. He's more Sterling w/offense than Keith
Re: Virginia Tech transfer Ben Emelogu to SMU
I would like to take the credit but that goes to mrydel. It's very rare that the WDNWHA committee rules on a kid and then reconsiders. Usually all decisions are final, but after passing on Emelogu last summer, the committee must have been impressed with him going to the minors (VT) for a year and honing his skills. Re: Virginia Tech transfer Ben Emelogu to SMU
Right, it just seems like there's going to be a lot of competition for minutes at that spot for Keith next year with McQuaid and Emelogu coming on board. Hopefully it will motivate him to improve all facets of his game 2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient
Re: Virginia Tech transfer Ben Emelogu to SMU
He's got a year to think about it. This will be a very telling year for Keith, especially since that other guy isn't coming. What was his name again? Party at The Wopper!
