I wish EMan the best of luck. He wanted to come to SMU. Prime Prep screwed him over.

This.

I don't think it will affect his draft stock. And to people thinking he won't get exposure, Guandgond's gym will be full. Don't think NBA scouts aren't going to watch him simply because he plays in China...they watch kids out in the middle of the Outback in bumfvck Australia  He'll be fine and got damn that is a lot of money. Good for him.

Is the unnamed source Brett Shipp? Reads a bit like what Shipp said on the radio the other day

Uh, for that money, I'd say goodbye to SMU, too. (plus I bet he gets some endorsement deals). Why more kids don't do this is beyond me. Kind of a no brainer ("hmmm, go to class and work my [deleted] off for nothing or get paid $1.2 million freakin' dollars and all I have to do is play basketball and get ready for the NBA?" yeah, that's a tough one). Couple that with a huge ins policy, and I'd be all in. Good for him. Sucks for us, but good for him.

I met the Tianjin team once at a hotel in Shanghai. I suspect the lack of quality competition, whether in daily practice or in almost every game, will impact his growth. Also wonder about the coaching he will receive. HC may be American with some NBA experience, but since majority of team is most likely Chinese, assistant coaches will most likely be Chinese who speak limited English.

Certainly the coaching will not be up to SMU standards.

Uh, one last comment. He could lose that $1.2M value REALLY quickly if he drops even 1 spot in the NBA draft

Smart play would have been staying at SMU,if he could have

Exactly.

At some point he will think twice about taking money from Under Armour and throwing away a year in college in a very visible program in the US. (my theory on what happened no offense)

No need for your theories. He couldn't qualify due to issues with prime prep.
