I say he's overtaken Simpson as the most valuable freshman. He's not as quick or athletic, but he has pretty polished low-post moves, he gets excellent position and he's a rebounding machine. Castro was a steal. He and Simpson and Isham and Miller, when he gets back next year, make this an excellent freshman class.

Castro reminds me a little of Jay Poerner when he first got to SMU. Castro's a little thicker and not quite as tall, but like Jay, he's just plain effective. He's not going to blaze past anyone with great speed, but he always seems to be in the right place at the right time, whether it's for a pass into the low post or for a rebound. What a nice player he's becoming. Remember, when Poerner arrived, a lot of people didn't think too highly of him, either. And look how he turned out.
