New NIT rules

Postby Bballer » Sat Feb 09, 2002 2:47 pm

Now that the NIT has increased the amount of teams, what do you think the qualifications are? It used to be about 20 wins, right? Well we are 11-10 with 8 games to go, and the oppurtunity to play 11, if we go to the WAC championship game. If we were to win 6 out of the next 8, that would put us at 17-12, possibly borderline NIT material. Am I right about this?

The NIT expanding to 40 teams certainly helps our chances, but more importantly the WAC's. We probably will see 3-4 WAC teams in post-season play. Right now, Hawaii, Tulsa & La Tech look to have good possibilities, but a strong finish by Fresno could get them some attention. I'm don't think we are capable of wining 6 or our last 7 regular season games, but even if we did, I think we'd have to get to the WAC tourney finals and finish 19-12 to get NIT consideration.
