Keep 'em home

Did everyone see Holy Cross almost beat Kansas last night? I forget his name, but Holy Cross's starting center is a freshman from Austin. He's 6-11 and can shoot really well. I remember hearing that Coach Dement didn't even recruit him. How did this kid slide under Dement's radar screen? He should know every kid on earth who's that tall OR can shoot like that, not to mention a kid who's that tall AND can shoot like that. And he's from Texas! He should be in Dallas.

Dave Bliss built a top 25 program by making it his goal to get one of the top players in Dallas every year. If we could get 2 of the top 10 kids in Dallas every year, we would be well on our way. Of course, Bliss was recruiting during a much "dirtier" time in SMU's history.

Also, Deginald Erskin of Texas is a transfer from North Texas...look how he has come on at the end of the season for the Horns. He is only 6'6" but creates matchup problems because of his ability to drive and also play in the post. He's shooting 63% from the field and has had 17 and 16(?) points in each of Texas' first two victories. How did we miss him and he go to North Texas???
