Plano West junior Chris Reay (6-9, 230) has given an oral commitment to play basketball for SMU.

Reay, who averaged 12.2 points and 7.8 rebounds and was a second-team all-District 9-5A selection, said he wanted to stay close to home and that he was excited about playing with SMU signee Bryan Hopkins. Oral commitments are non-binding."

Granted, it's a long way from signing period for hoops recruits, but this guy is a National Top 100 player according to most recruiting sources I've seen. Maybe Coach Dement and Coach Tubbs have finally brought in a big man with some inside game. Put him with Simpson (at small forward) and Castro (at power forward) and you have a young, talented front line. Way to go, Coach.
