They could spend their time so much more wisely complaining about the SMU cartoon commercial.

FWIW, that was the same director. But yes, I agree the song selection was better.

ARGGHHH! They played EXACTLY the same songs they've played all year. So if you liked it last night, WTF has everyone been complaining about?

you're lucky to have any piccolos who give up their time as much as all the other band members.
band director could require them to play other instruments, the band requires piccolos. get over it.

I'm confused by people saying the band was great last night? They literally played the exact same songs.

Well, maybe I am not kidding then. I sit opposite from the band and I actually heard them....other nights, not so much. For some reason they stood out more and got me to actually pay attention to what they were playing. Sure, I had heard the songs before many times. They just sounded good. So sue me for saying I liked the band last night.

The song selection was a small tiny bit different (no beans for example). What stood out to me was less promotions and both the promotions and the band seemed to not go on as long. Everything seemed to happen at a little quicker pace, and there weren't gaps in transition between band, promotion and music.

Honestly, the reason it was easier to hear last night, despite having only 2 trombones and a handful of trumpts, is called "accoustics." When the place is full, the sound is absorbed by the people and their clothing, and the ambient noise from all the people muffles the sound. When there are more empty seat, the sound bounces off of them, and there is less "murmur" from the crowd to tamp down on the band sound.

It also depends on where you are sitting in Moody.

For example, I went to an Alabama football game last month. They have 416 people (416!!!) and I could BARELY hear them playing in the stands. This is the way sound works.
