It'd be nice to play Baylor and/or Texas.

I doubt the instate big 12 basketball teams will play us, and even if they did there is almost no chance they would come to moody.

I would still love to see a weekend Texas tournament at the American Airlines C. Eight teams - SMU, TCU, Baylor, UT, A&M, UTEP, SFA and Sam Houston. Play the first round games Thursday. Saturday have the semis and the 5th and 6th place games. Sunday play the championship and the 3rd place games.

Good excuse to head to Vegas. I watched our team the last time we were in that tourney many moons ago. We lost to UNLV in the final. But they serve booze at their stadium so that never hurts.

I just hope SMU earns the Smoothie King Center next year instead of playing i that High School dump on Tulane's campus. A team as good as ours deserves to play in a decent arena and not some National Historical Site gym.

I usually make a year end trip to Vegas around the holidays since it's so easy to drive from San Diego, so I'll definitely make my way over for this if I can.

My first 2 years as a newbie lawyer, I lived in Vegas. Saw a lot of games there, including some awesome wins by SMU. One game I was there and the marketing people stopped me on the way to see if I would do one of their timeout promotions. I tried to decline, but they finally convinced me. Had I known the game, which would have been pretty awesome had not I, myself, been doing it, I would probably not have volunteered.

They dropped 3 giant bouncy balance balls from the catwalks in the rafters of the Thomas & Mack, which I was supposed to catch. Caught the first one. Second one immediately hit a beam and carreened way on the other side of the court. Now, I had told myself that, depsite my competitive spirit and volleyball skills, I was not going to do anything silly and dive for any balls or anything, but when the 3rd one was dropped, what did I do? Yes, I sprinted and dove to try and catch that damn ball, sliding across the floor only to have it bounce off my outstretched fingertips. My crushed pride was only slightly assuaged by the standing ovation and high fives for my effort that I received while walking, head hung in defeat, off the court.
