Kind of worrisome.......

Sounds familiar for some reason.

Without anybody in the room, Cincy is one horse trade away from getting screwed just like SMU last year

I think Cinci is safe. Tulsa is the new SMU for this year, along with possibly Temple.

It's interesting to watch all the media predictions but the real choices are made behind closed doors - reminds me of the Soviet Union . . . or the Vatican. :-)

Media predictions have consistently shown at least 3 getting in. Many show 4. I think we'll get 2. (tourney winner and next best horse). I think Cincy, Tulsa, and SMU (of course) deserve to get in (Temple on the bubble - they need a very strong run in the AAC tourney to have any chance). If all 3 do well in the tourney (get to semis) and, say, UConn wins it all, that's the only way I see 4 getting in. Very unlikely with no representation. I expect 2. Three, I'd be shocked.

If UCONN makes a run they have a shot - as defending champs they will get some benefit of the doubt.

SMU had an OOC SOS in the 300's
SMU had 4 top 50 RPI wins, just one on the road and all were in conference.
SMU had 3 bad losses (@USF, @Temple, neutral vs Houston)
SMU lost their last 3 games of the season

Cincinnati has an OOC SOS is 23.
Cincinnati has 6 top 50 RPI wins, with 3 on the road and 2 were out of conference
Cincinnati also has 3 bad losses (@Nebraska, @ECU, Tulane)
Cincinnati has won 4 straight...with game at home against Memphis, and then probably Memphis again in Hartford.

I think Tulsa would be a better comparison to last year's SMU.

True, the SOS is vastly different, but if I was CIncinnati I sure wouldn't want to lose the opening game of The American tournament.

I think Cincinnati is in and I hope they get in. I also hope we play them in the tournament.

I would just be scared to be on the bubble when there is no AAC rep on the committee. They are all cronies for someone - and this year none of them are an AAC crony.

That is definitely fair. I remember back in '06, Cincinnati was on the bubble and lost at the buzzer in the first round of the conference tournament to Syracuse (who went on to win the BE tournament as the #9 seed). After the game Lunardi had Cincinnati safely in, on the morning of the selection sunday Cincinnati was a consensus 9 seed. Then somehow, Air Force, a team no one had even on the bubble made it in and Cincinnati got snubbed. I recall the head of the selection committee was from the Mountain West and definitely (even if not expliclity) was the only reason that team got in. Having someone on the committee is HUGE for bubble teams.

We all think you should be in, but don't trust the NCAA when it comes to the American. In fact, if you scratch an SMU fan you will find a nervous wreck over selections even though we should be safe also.

UCincinnati,
What is the story on Cronin? Is he doing better? Hopefully he will be back next season. He's a great coach.
