Nic's Tough Nite

Postby AusTxPony » Mon Mar 02, 2015 11:54 am

Watched the game in Austin at SMU watch party. Nic had a tough nite on defense and offense. I believe that he will be "mad as Hell and not take it anymore" on Sunday v Tulsa. Anyone watching that game should know how to defense us. UConn was brilliant defending and amazingly effective on offense. Great game plan by Ollie. Boat may have just won himself POY. :(

UCONN had the same game plan as Memphis, only difference was a) we had trouble finishing at the rim and rebounding against UCONN's size b) nic missed the shots he got that he normally makes (he missed 3 wide open shots 2 of which were threes which he normally barries) c) UCONN shot absolutely bananas (late contested threes, two FT shooters with less that 61% from the line going 11/11) d) ref's weren't giving us the calls so UCONN avoided the normal foul trouble we cause teams until very late in the game when it didn't matter.

It was a perfect storm that cost us the game, which can happen on the road against a team with the talent UCONN has.

Refs weren't giving us the calls because we couldn't get the ball inside effectively

Give UConn credit, the refs weren't a reason why we lost

Didn't say the refs were the reason, most of the points were about uconn, that said there we a fair amount of contact on our player when they were rebounding and going inside that the refs let slide. Didn't think the refs were ridiculously bad but UCONN had an advantage there like you expect the home team to have.
