Was at Ole Miss before Illinois State as either 2nd or 3rd assistant. Grew up in Alabama and played basketball at UAB. Played professionally in China and coached in China for a couple years before taking a job at Jacksonville State (Alabama) and then moving on to Ole Miss.

Aaron Leetch, who worked in the ISU athletic department, was also killed in the crash. He was there for several years (2007-2011) while Jank was HC.
