Sounds about right. I've talked to some NBA/Mavs people that like his pro chances, some a lot more than others. Most like his pro potential more than Nic FWIW.

He's got one more developmental level to go IMHO and then he'll be ready. I'd like to see him get a little bouncier / quicker. Everything else is there IMHO.

If I were him, I'd spend every day in the gym working on my jump shot.

I'm not sure being 24 is really a detractor, just a talking point. He's a roster spot, big depth way down the bench, not a lottery pick. Essentially, none of these teams look at anybody other than the franchise kids as being long term. Whomever were to draft Markus is only getting 3 or 4 years, maybe. Its not a developmental pick, more plug and play

Agreed. And if he can stay in the league for a couple of these teams (6/7 years), he'll make enough money to support himself and his FOE for the rest of his life (and since he's an SMU guy he should have plenty of good contacts to choose from who can help him manage his money accordingly). It's a good life, and I wish the best for the young man.

Not that big of a deal.
Mcrib is back for a limited time, but he always gets the filet O'fish on Tuesdays.
IMHO, he gets the mcrib and is pleased with his decision.

it's very hard for a deep bench player to get a 2nd NBA contract as the veteran minimums make them much more expensive than just drafting a new kid who might develop.

understood, but what are the options? He's, at best, a marginal prospect that either plays his way to payday #2 or he's out. I'm not sure leaving now vs later changes any of that

I wondered the same. As an SMU fan I would love to see him back but our first concern as fans, as hard as it is, should be MK's success in his career.

Hmmm. Love some Markus but not ready. He got stuffed plenty by many this year, even in our league.

Obviously hope he stays! Not to add to more speculation BUT: I know we heard Nic's gf is moving here, but anything else from him? Seems he has been very quiet since UCLA...
