So obviously this isn't an NCAA clearing problem...it is either a.) An SMU clearing problem or b.) He simply had a change of heart and wants to go elsewhere.

No idea the real deal, but we could have used another live body early in the year

since he never signed-he's a free agent

if its from the SMU side I think it might be related to our poor APR scores and not wanting to take a kid below the traditional 830 SAT (recentered from 700)

So, it's a by-product of Larry's plan for putting the re-build on steroids over the first three years? It obviously worked, but, like all things, has unintended consequences.

here's the situation-APR is a year delayed

we busted a 904 last year-and probably going to have a bad year in the next report due to the academic problems with Frazier, Kennedy and whatshisface who left at mid-season. Need to keep multi-year (4 year average) above 930 and right now its about 945. So a good year will come off and be replaced by a second straight bad year most likely

What are the consequences if it goes below 930

From what I understand his reading level is not high enough to stay eligible at SMU. He will have a better chance at those other schools.

Would have to be pretty bad considering the reading levels of a couple of our guys when they entered SMU. But that makes sense.
