Wasn't the shot clock shortened in the NIT this year?

I think you can shape the shot clock argument and how it effects play, any way you want. That said, I like the idea of a 30 second clock. I'd think it favors defenses like SMU's, but who knows

While LB may be against it philosophically it sure would seem to fit his team's defensive style of play. I find myself checking the shot clock quite often when we are on D. If i'm checking that shot clock you can bet that opposing coaches and players are too.

Is there a stat for shot clock turnovers? Ponies would have to be up there.

I do not believe the 5 second difference in the shot-clock is going to change the flow of the game or level of scoring drastically...its a non-issue. I think LB's point is that no matter what the shot clock is, the level of skill of 18 year olds playing their 1 year is bringing the overall skill-set down and making the game ugly.

Agreed...we seem to give teams a lot of trouble defensively getting open looks...this will give them 5 less seconds to do so.

Didn't it used to be 45 seconds in college at one point, or am I crazy?

I'm all for it. The problem with today's game imo is that teams run 8 different sets with a 35 second shot clock. Offenses used to flow when they were more motion oriented. Today, every coach tries to run a zillion sets until one maybe works. It needs to stop, put some creativity back in the game, speed it up. What happened to motion offenses?
