New Head Bball coach

Postby abezontar » Thu Feb 27, 2003 7:17 pm

I remember seeing the Head coach of BYU's name in the posts but I don't think it was suggested for the head coaching job here. ANybody thought about it?

Yea, Mike and the boys just whooped up on a team from Idaho. Why not be satisfied, especially after we took out perennial power Rice. This program is a coming. Yawn.

The 3-5 seeds are in a logjam. Fresno and Nevada probaly have the top 2 seeds. SJSU and UTEP will battle it out for the last seed. Boise is just ahead of them. End result is that no matter which seed SMU gets they will play a pretty good team in the first round.

What's SMU's record in conference tournaments since Dement took over?

Bad, in the five years I was in school, fall 97 through May 02, he made it out of the first round only my sophmore year, he may have done it my freshman year, but I wasn't there and don't remember too well.

The worst thing about his record is the cratering in the last 3 weeks of the season for a few years when he had some talent. He has never had depth (not even sure he had a good starting 5) until this year. While not deep, they get good play from Kelley, occasionally Lowe and Voc. Others like BHead and Rack have also cotributed at times. This team has made it to the last 2 (?) games without falling apart. In fact, this team is playing as well as it has all year. let's give Dement a break for a while and watch.

Old Pony, we're a slightly better than .500 team in a bad league. There really isn't that much to watch. I love the team and cheer for them but we are never playing for anything.

Basically, you just stated that its the first time in 5 or 6 years the coach hasn't lost the team. How did he make it this far?
