Bizarre Emelogu stat

In 2013-14 at Virginia Tech, he averaged over 10 PPG Last year, he never scored 10 points in a game.

And his 10ppg at VT wasn't him just filling it up against bad teams, he scored 22 against West Virginia, 18 against Seton Hall, 12 against VCU, and 21 against Maryland.

I think it takes a year for guys to truly "get" LB's system because Ben really looked lost out there, as did Justin Martin when he played. But if he can get close to his 2013-14 form this year, he could really push Keith and Sterling for minutes. I was probably harder than most people here on Gu last year, but he was very impressive defensively as the season went on. Bottom line- we are going to have the bodies to press often and sub in and out frequently to keep up the pressure. Fun!

BenE played better around the end of the season defensively and gave some decent minutes. Unfortunately it was pretty clear he lost confidence in his shot early and it never recovered. He has the size and athleticism to be a solid contributor if he can get it right.

The difference is playing time. Ben was on the court longer with VT and thus had the ability to get into a rhythm. Believe it or not, there is a rhythm to shooting jumpers. Sometimes you need to hurl a few in game conditions to find your range.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
