Dale said that golf is the only sport that does not cheat. However, I have been around a few people on the golf course that have put a bit lower score than what they really had on their score cards. That being said it seemed like he was just grandstanding.

Apparently so.

"Over a four-month period, a booster contacted nine golf prospects and facilitated contact between the former golf coach and the prospects and their families. He also encouraged the prospects to arrange unofficial visits to the university. During his interview with NCAA enforcement staff, the former golf coach said he was unaware of the boosterâ€™s activity with the program. Geesh... even that sounds like a trumped up charge. No mention of money or other inducements... just that a booster was improperly involved in recruiting.

This is sounding more and more like a witch hunt to try to hammer a smaller program that's having more success than it "should".

I love that Bilas immediately wrote Hansen off on OTL and relegated him back to the kids table. Hansen sounded like a crazy old dude that somehow got on the air and starts talking about an event 30 years ago, what a [deleted]. I don't think Bilas even knew Hansen's name.

No the golf violations were a royal screw up of monumental dimensions- a flagrant disregard of NCAA rules. Compares with our roving band of alumni recruiters in 1980s who got commitments from players Bobby Collins didn't even know about or want. You can't have representatives directly involved with recruits unless they are designated recruiters
