Two Rows vs. Christie's

Postby PonyTime » Fri Mar 14, 2003 11:55 am

Based upon the mention in the DMN . . .

Anyone know if Two Rows will be Featuring the SMU game this evening - i.e. big screen, sound, etc. (Even if it is up against the Texas-Texas Tech game at the same time) . . .

If so - it may be the place to go, as Christies have already indicated that they intend to cater to the Texas/Tech game watching crowd.

Thought that I would evaluate the options:

Two Rows:

Pluses
$2 pints from 4-7:00 (Get there early)
Location

Minuses
Do the REALLY have the game? Or are they just saying that to get us to show up and order our food?

Christies:

Pluses:
We KNOW that they get the ESPN package and will show the game

Minuses:
Parking
Location
Texas Fans/Texas Tech Fans

Two Rows advertised in the DMN article AND SmuMustangs.com - if they don't show the game they are idiots. The have a pretty big bar area. Big Screens are in the dining area.

Christie's - probably chock full of UT people I would imagine. Game start at 6pm also.

I like Christie's better than Two Rows, but I guarantee you that it will be solid burnt orange in there. I think I will go to Two Rows since they have promised it will be featured. Humperdink's trickf*cked us yesterday.

Good points about sticking together, but I hate trying to find a parking spot in that area even on a normal night. Tonight I would bet it will be a nightmare. Seriously leaning toward 2 rows.

Christie's
2811 McKinney
Dallas, Texas 75204
Tel. 214-954-1511

If it's packed, MAT is right across the street. Park at the Quadrangle and walk over.

I'm not in Dallas anymore, but I would suggest you guys go to Two Rows. They have put something together with the school, and if you want to have future game watching events, you should show your support...

Sounds like a split decision. I'm leaning to Two Rows for all the reasons already mentioned.

If I were back in Dallas, no doubt you would find me front and center at Two Rows. Love the place. Food is good, and their beers are very good. (But then again, I love a good brewpub anyway.) If they are advertising support of SMU, shouldn't we give them that support back? Maybe the cycle will continue. Also, isn't some good support within the Dallas community what we need right now?

Good win, now time for our boys to step it up.

Go Ponies!

If 2 Rows is really, truly doing big screen and sound then I don't mind going there. Bus, what say you? I'm happy to call an audible.

Grant Hawkins (SMU media relations) just e-mailed to let everyone know that he called Two Rows earlier today and they will have 1 or 2 big screens setup (w/audio) on the North side of the restaurant for us.
