Class 4A Tourney MVP-Jeremis Smith

Postby Stallion » Tue Mar 18, 2003 5:57 pm

Smith a 6-5 SF has a profile which lists SMU and OU as his favorites although I can't find the date of the story he listed those schools. Smith scored 20 points in the semifinal and 26 points in the final to lead FW Dunbar to the Class 4A Championship and was named Tourney MVP. He averaged 21.5 points on the year and is rated a 3 star. I don't think we have ever signed a kid from Ft Worth Dunbar. BTW Devon Pearson got named to the All-Tourney team in the Fla Class 6A Final 4. For what its worth Pearson and Jeremis Smith may know each other since they are both listed on the same roster for the 2002 Nike Camp at Indianapolis

That would be huge if we can re-establish ties in Dallas and Fort Worth Schools, now that Tubbs is at OU.

Stallion, I posted a few days back regarding this kid. He is a big-time player. I anticipate he will be a national top 25 player next year....he is that good. If he is interested in us then he should be our #1 priority next year.
BTW, 2004 will be a another solid year for DFW recruits with Smith, Aldridge, and Horton leading the way.

Apparently he and BHop are friends, and that might give us an edge. I know they played numerous times against each other over the past few years. I'm sure he'll get a lot more offers by the time the summer is over and he has been at all the camps. Wouldn't hurt to have BHop put a bug in his ear right away.

Also, I'm not sure how often Rivals updates a player's profile but there is no way Smith is only a 3 star.
