SMU lands point guard

Postby PonyTales » Wed May 21, 2003 10:57 am

From Wednesday's DMN:

Point guard chooses SMU

Rio Vista point guard Katy Cobb, a first-team all-state selection in Class 2A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, has orally committed to SMU.

Cobb led Rio Vista to a 32-2 record as a junior this season. Oral commitments are nonbinding. The early signing period begins in November.

This is a great catch for us! Rhonda now has two very talented local recruits lined up for the early signing period. Way to go Rhonda!

The other recruit is Brittany Barker, a 6'2" post from Greenville, who was her districts MVP last year. Very good work for the ladies, they've never had 2 this early, before.

On the question of Rio Vista..... CPC will have to consult various maps and atlases, then triangulate with his GPS system, and get back to you on that one.
Some will tell you that a glass is half empty, and others that the same glass is half full. But all CPC really wants to know is...... does the drink taste good?

It's about 10 miles, give or take a few, south of Cleburne. Down there, they pronounce it "Rye-O" Vista. For thems that need further directions, Cleburne is south of Fort Worth, west of Midlothian and east of Glen Rose.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
