The Select team will feature Texas signee LaMarcus Aldridge from Seagoville and A&M signee Acie Law IV from Kimball, along with several other local players. There's supposedly going to be a USA team and a Texas select team, or something like that (don't know definite details.) The USA team is training for the FIBA World Championships at the AAC already. It's a pretty nice collection of college players. Here's the article from USAbasketball.com...

With only 17 days of training available before diving head first into the 2003 FIBA Men's Junior World Championship in Greece, the USA junior men will have to make the most of their training period and competing in the 4th Annual Global Games in Dallas, Texas, is an important component in the team's preparations.

Manned on the USA bench by Oregon mentor Ernie Kent, the USA Junior World Championship Team will open its training June 24 utilizing the Dallas Mavericks' practice facility in the American Airlines Center.

The USA squad will also participate in the 2003 Global Games and will get the opportunity to get some invaluable international playing experience under their belts. Playing five games in six days, the USA will take on in preliminary play Lithuania (June 30), Texas (July 1), Africa (July 2) and Canada (July 3). The finals of Global Game will be played on July 5.

This is not USA Basketball's first involvement in the Global Games. In preparation of the 2001 FIBA World Championship For Young Men, the USA Young men's team (a team comprised of top collegians 21-years-old or younger) played a pair of exhibition games against two international teams that were involved in the 2001 Global Games. Meeting Lithuania on July 25, 2001, the U.S. rolled to an impressive 113-66 victory. Facing Yugoslavia the following night, the Americans were forced to battle back from 21 points down before staking claim on an 87-77 win.

The 2003 Global Games are being played at Southern Methodist University’s Moody Coliseum. Tickets are available online or by calling 800-955-5566 and are $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and younger.
