A Different Kind of Celebration on Selection Sunday

Postby DiamondM » Mon Feb 01, 2016 12:51 pm

We should have a celebration for this team and the seniors on Selection Sunday to show the to reward them somehow and show them how proud of them we are for everything they have done for this program over the last 3-4 years.

I hope something is in the works.

How bout we don't do it on selection Sunday. Nothing will alleviate pain of that day, so don't try. As for a celebration, by all means

I strongly agree that we should have a celebration. This team has lifted our spirits
and given us many hours of exciting entertainment. The past three years have turned
our outlook to one of hope and accomplishment. This team is definitely part of history.

I agree with HoopManx that we should choose another day for it and not Selection Sunday.

Go Mustangs - Beat Houston for our 20th victory!

Depends on whether the goal is to celebrate accomplishments, or to draw media attention.

I think Senior Day will be pretty special this year and ought to be that celebration.

If we want to give a big F-U to the NCAA - the appropriate day for that would be on Selection Sunday or during the Final Four. With the Final Four in Houston this year, would be nice to add a little SMU flavor to the weekend somehow...

Would be nice to get the Seniors down to Houston - if only to network with NBA teams with Larry... Once players are done competing in NCAA D1 athletics, can they be given tickets to sporting events? As I understand it - they can sign contracts at that time...not sure how this works when a player is done competing.

It would be kinda awkward to do it Selection Sunday.
I agree a celebration would be nice if we win the conference title again.

Once their eligibility is up, the NCAA has no say in what they do, it becomes irrelevant.

For this year's seniors? Won't they be in NBA camps this summer?

Maybe on Monday night - fraternity and sororities can come over after chapter meetings - beer served as per a game - could have a "friends of Larry" exhibition game. crank the music up to the top. all season ticket holders get in free. 1st two beers are free.

Waiting until final four would just look sad in my view. Gotta do it right during the story - immediately after the selection Sunday just to show them they aren't going to keep us down.

As long as everybody graduates or leaves in good standing if they go pro. Just hoping they can keep the seniors motivated with their school work.

Ok, but I dont think the question had anything to do with APR. He asked what the seniors can do after their eligibility was over, not the consequences for the program.
