Open Practice

Postby IslandBoy » Fri Oct 17, 2003 10:39 am

The men's basketball team is having an open practice on Saturday, Oct. 18, after the SMU-BSU FB game. The SMU release says it's 5-8 p.m. I personally can't wait to see how the team looks!

I dropped by for a bit-the Rack now has a body that's ready to play Division 1A ball-he also can hit the 3-I didn't see enough to really get a feel but I have a hint he will be vastly improved-he's not fast but he's got decent quickness and coordination for a big guy. We still lack talented big men though in my opinion to make it the Dance.

Did you see enough of BHop to answer my questions below or hear anything?

probably not enough to tell much-they were just doing warmups but he wasn't limping nor did he appear to be in any pain. Everything looked pretty normal to me.

The DMN this morning said that both Bhop and Miller were practicing at full speed. That seems to be some good news. Hopefully it bodes well for the season.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

I've waited a full year to see BHop (and Miller) at full speed so I can't get as excited as the rest of you about his abilities. I'm glad I don't have to wait much longer. Football can't be over quickly enough for SMU. Let's all pray for a basketball season of pleasant surprises and to see what Dement can do with solid experience from his starters. Maturity and at least a couple of exceptional athletes should get us close to the dance but I think it will take a surprise or two to get us all the way to the NCAA's. There is hope though.

Anyone know practice times in the next 2-3 weeks?
