Orlando waives Sasser

Postby Vitale » Thu Oct 23, 2003 8:57 am

The Magic decided to eat the last year of his guaranteed contract -- at $1.03 million, according to the DMN -- and cut Jeryl Sasser Wednesday. Head coach Doc Rivers loves big guards, but in addition to some guy named McGrady, he also got Gordon Giricic (or something like that) in a trade last year, and drafted Keith Bogans and Reece Gaines, squeezing Sasser out of the rotation.
Hopefully Sass will latch on someplace.

Aw, that stinks. Hopefully Sasser can get on another roster. I thoroughly enjoyed watching his senior year here on the Hilltop. Good luck Sasser!!!

The guy should have taken coaches comments seriously when he was at SMU and learned how to shoot properly.

Any thoughts on any other teams taking a look at him?

If Sasser wants to play in the NBA, he should think about the NBA's developmentl league, where he could possibly get the minutes he needs to work on his game and especially his shot. If you are going to make it as a guard, you have to shoot better than thirty something precent. European ball might be another option.

Be cool if the Mavs picked him up. Maybe we could get some promo stuff between them and the school.

Here's Hoping!
