we all hope anyone's concerns are wrong but I keep coming back to the fact that Jank was the guy who originally recruited and eventually brought Nic Moore to SMU. Give me a player like that every year (will one of this year's frosh become a stud?) and Jank could be the next Doc Hayes at SMU...and yes, the APR issue needs to be cleaned up ASAP but we appear to have a roster that will do that.

Everyone keeps talking about APR problems but everything I read says its about money. The offer was 3 years at 3.3 per year? No wonder he quit.

I guess you haven't kept up with top coaches salaries.

He would be one of the ten highest paid coaches in the country with that salary.

Can any coach match Jankovich's resume of coaching for 4 Hall of Fame level Coaches-plus playing for a 5th George Ravealing

Jack Hartman K-State
Bill Self Kansas, Illinois
Eddie Sutton Oklahoma St
Larry Brown SMU

also started out at Pan American with Lon Kruger (now at OU), Kevin Stallings at Vanderbilt was at Baylor with Gene Iba (not one the great Ibas though) and Texas with oh never mind Bob Wetlich. Started playing career with Geoge Ravealing at Washington st

Slick Rick at Louisville reportedly makes 7.5 per year. Larry deserves a lot more than 3.3

Just because Louisville overpaid doesn't mean SMU should. Tony Bennett at Virginia makes about $2.2 mil per year and has won far more tourney games at Virginia than the 0 Larry won at SMU.

I love Larry for how he brought us back from the depths, but $3.3 mil is more than Shaka Smart is getting at Texas. Always look at the market as a whole, not one outlier. Larry is what we needed, not necessarily what we need.

I personally would put Larry up against the very best coaches in college basketball and I think we had a legit shot at winning a national championship with him. We won the lottery when he called us up wanting the job and he has certainly proved his worth in 4 years with or without his first NCAA win yet.

We have had Larry at a fire sale price for 4 years and we should have doubled him. He has earned every penny.

I think Larry is a great coach as well, and I agree that we got very lucky to get him. But doubling him would have put him at $4 mil in salary which is more than what Bill Self makes at Kansas (another national championship caliber coach at a school that wears red and blue)

You don't think Larry Brown is as good as Bill Self? The only thing holding Larry back is time.

Coach K makes 9.6 and I bet they cheerfully write the checks.
