ESPN: Stability for new coaches at Memphis, SMU?

Over the next two weeks, Insider is assessing the stability of the coaching situation for each team in the top 10 leagues in college basketball. Next up: the American Athletic Conference.
The league has a couple of newcomers with Tubby Smith (Memphis) and Mike Dunleavy Sr. (Tulane) and a recent coaching change after Larry Brown stepped away. It also has a couple coaches who will feel significant pressure to win this season -- and a few more who are aging.
These rankings go in descending order, from least to most stable. Keep in mind that stability is not solely determined by whether a program will want to part ways with its head coach if there are perceived failings; often, success will make it difficult, if not impossible, for a program to keep a coach from leaving for a seemingly better job.
Tim Jankovich, SMU Mustangs
First season
Larry Brown couldn't come to an agreement on a contract with the administration and stepped down last week, which meant Jankovich was promoted. Jankovich, 57, spent five years as the head coach at Illinois State prior to being hired as Brown's coach-in-waiting four years ago. It will be interesting to see if Jankovich can maintain the level of talent that the program has brought in since Brown took over. He'll get a few years to show what he can do at the helm.
