DALLAS (SMU) — The 2016 SMU Basketball Tip-Off Luncheon is set for Friday, Oct. 28 at 12 p.m. The event, which will feature men's basketball coach Tim Jankovich and women's basketball coach Travis Mays, will be held on the SMU campus in the Martha Proctor Mack Grand Ballroom of the Umphrey Lee Center.

Mustang fans can sponsor a table for $750, which includes nine tickets and a seat for a coach or student-athlete, or buy individual tickets $75. To purchase tickets, click here.

The Mustangs open the season in Moody Coliseum on Friday, Nov. 11, when the women face Texas State at 11:30 a.m. and the men host Gardner-Webb at 7 p.m. For season ticket information call 214-SMU-GAME (214-768-4263) or visit SMUMustangs.com.

Men's basketball coach Tim Jankovich takes over after serving four seasons as associate head coach. Last season, the Mustangs went 25-5, finishing the season ranked No. 24 after reaching a high of No. 8. SMU was the last unbeaten team in the country, starting 18-0, winning the Las Vegas Classic title during the season-opening streak. The Mustangs return starters Ben Moore, Sterling Brown and Shake Milton as well as letterwinners Jarrey Foster and Jonathan Wilfong. The Mustangs add a pair that sat out last season in Ben Emelogu II and Semi Ojeleye, as well as newcomers Harry Froling, Tom Wilson, Dashawn McDowell and Leo Kontopoulos. Jimmy Whitt will sit out this season after transferring from Arkansas.

First-year women's basketball head coach Travis Mays has added four transfers to the roster for the 2016-17 season, which features eight returners, including American Athletic Conference honorees McKenzie Adams and Alicia Froling. The Mustangs add Klara Bradshaw, a transfer from TCU who came to SMU prior to the 2015-16 season, and return Kiara Perry, who missed last year due to injury. Perry averaged 7.9 points and led the Mustangs with 39 steals as a sophomore in 2014-15. Adams was named The American Newcomer of the Year after leading SMU with 13.4 points per game with a team-high 76 assists. Froling was named to the all-conference team, finishing the year as one of just three players to average a double-double. The Australian scored 12.3 points per game with 10.6 rebounds. Stephanie Collins set an SMU single-season record with 73 blocks, and the Mustangs set a school-record as a team with 184 blocks.
