This year is looking a bit like the year we just missed the tourney and went to the NIT finals. At this point during that season, we were clicking but had a couple of disappointing losses and then completely laid an egg at the end of the season in the AAC tourney. That can't happen this year. I think the AAC has more respect now than then, but it's a little bit of a down year for the conference (teams' records, etc). So, because of the loss at Boise especially, we will need to really finish strong. We need to win all of these games going into the Cincy game. I feel we need to make it to at least the AAC tourney semifinals and, if we lose, have an extremely competitive game, to get into the tourney. I hope we can win it of course, but that's the only way I think we get in -- just win the rest of these here that we SHOULD win and then don't lay an egg in the conference tourney and we're good. Can't pick up a couple of stupid losses here (like at Tulsa or something like that) and then not win a conf tourney game and expect to get in (as good as we are playing right now).

If memory serves we had an RPI in the 60's at the end of conference and even though they claim they don't go by RPI, it gave them an excuse to hose us.

If this team can stay healthy they will be dancing.

At this point, I think even if we split the road games, lose to Cincy at home and only win 1 conference tourney game, that we would be in at 25-8. Though I would prefer not to find out. Beating Cincy would make it much less stressful.

I think it helps us that we have a higher national rep than we did when we got robbed of the bid and barnstormed the NIT.

CBS dropped us a line this morning to a 9 seed. Other than obviously winning our own games, we could really benefit from Pitt turning things around, that would certainly help. Cincy and Michigan wins tonight would also help. Unfortunately our non-conference opponents have really been struggling lately (other than the big USC win last night) and that is bringing us down even as we continue to win.

In my opinion, we can absorb one more road loss, but need to win the rest, including Cincy (that game is enormous for us) and at least make the semi-finals of conference tourney. Maybe we get in with less than that, but I won't be comfortable with anything less.

As good as I think we are, we just don't have any real solid wins to hang our hats on. And Cincy is our only opportunity left to grab one.

I'm kind of surprised Jerry dropped us to a 9. According to every other site / analytics, we're a top 25/27 team, which means we should be an 7 seed (at the very least). Just keep winning.

ESPN has us as a 7 seed playing #10 Illinois State. Isn't that Jank's old team? Wonder if they remember him up there.

ESPN loves to do those kind of matchups.

lol we are not getting left out right now. Needless panic. We have only lost FOUR games.
And an NCAA bid to the Orlando regional would be lovely.

not worried even one bit we are missing the tournament. It's probably a 1% chance. more worried about what seed we get

As long as ESPN has us as a "lock" we should be just fine!

Pretty sure we were called a lock by ESPN in February of 2014, too......

SMU beats UCF without Jarrey Foster in Orlando. Ponies are solely focused on one thing: getting back to the NCAA Tournament. Dangerous.

just need to avoid that dreaded 8/9 game; tough 1st round match up and almost a certain defeat in round 2 against a # 1 seed. Of course, we are SMU so would not be surprised to see them hose us again after the past 2 years
