any match up is O.K. with me if we get into the Big Dance. Otherwise, I want our guys to make some noise in the NIT if that is our fate

SMU in play-in game vs. Clemson - would play Baylor in first round.

The Chad Morris Triangle?

Seriously! Lunardi has a good sense of humor. With that said, bring on Baylor - they have been bounced in upsets in the first game two straight years. Sure would like to avoid a play-in game but I would still take it. Win AAC tourney and don't have to worry about it though.

Actually, just noticed that was from 11/24 - guessing we are on the outside looking in when he posts the new one.

Is the play game regarded as making the NCAA tournament or would SMU have to win the so callled play in game to make the NCAA tournament?

"play-in" game is actually considered a 1st round win these days

Correction play-in game is now the opening round. Round of 64 is back to being first round.

Quick takeaways from the Joe Lunardi bracket:
Pitt, TCU, Eastern Michigan, CSU Bakersfield are solid wins as they are in the field as of now
USC and Michigan are "respectable" losses as they are both in the field
Boise State is a bad loss.

It pretty much confirms what we already knew.

Does a 7-8 loss SMU team get into the tourney (besides winning the AAC tournament)? Guessing we can't afford a loss at Moody this year to Cinci, UComn, or Memphis unless we win at their place.

I'm not an expert, but looking at expected RPI's if we finish 24-7 (RPI 27) and 23-8 (RPI 33) I would say yes we would get in. Unless we lose first game of conference tourney. If we go 24-7 we would likely be at least regular season co-conference champions. Playing a pretty quality OOC helps.
