Wow - SMU leads 5-1 since both of us in AAC. Didn't really realize that.

So excited! Glad we get right back at it after Christmas.

Let's start The American play with a big road win!

Yep...the only loss to Memphis in AAC play was the last game of the regular season in 13/14 up there (67-58). Had the lead at halftime in that one too.

Was the game inbetween losing to Louisville at Moody and that horrible loss to Houston in the first round of AAC tourney play.

Mrydel, Ponyte and I were at that loss in Memphis. It hurt.

I was there, too. Sat next to Miller. The second half was so disappointing. One of those games where Nic and the rest couldn't put it together.

Memphis will probably only play 8-9 guys against SMU with Chad Rykhoek out.

I know we have a few PFs in Memphis. Just curious if Tubbs has reenergized the fanbase there. I remember last season they had completely checked out.

Tubs has given some life back to the fan base. Certainly hoping to be one of the happy SMU fans at the game next Tuesday.

best way to re-energize the fanbase is to win...that also helps with recruiting.

both Memphis and SMU lack a lot of depth, so it should be a entertaining game!

Everyone was concerned about Stanford because of our lack of size inside. We handled that pretty well.

Will be interesting to see if we can use our perimeter length and overall athleticism to deny inside against Memphis as well.

I have a feeling that the jitterbug point guard is really the kryptonite for our defense. In which case I think we will be good in conference play.

I hope the refs let 'em play. Otherwise it will be walk on night both ways.
We'll most likely show some zone.

There is already a UNLV style amoeba defense aspect to the team. 3/4 press, slow the team down before they get into half court. Then in half court, grab the closest player for man defense, and switch all over as players switch sides which gives it a little help zone aspect. Jank speaks about interchangeable parts on offense, but the defensive side is where they have gotten really creative with it. When they played straight man, it allowed for isolation where we were susceptible to the jitterbug. And when we helped, players were wide open for threes. Now the help comes from random places and since we switch so much there isn't isolation. Neat to watch.
