The entire SMU fan base was great tonight. Not only did the students arrive early but so did most everyone else. Moody was 90% full ten minutes before tip and there was a buzz throughout the arena. I'm sure it was mentioned somewhere else but we set a new reno Moody attendance recoded with 7,500 tonight.

Students were out in force and did an awesome job ....... EXCEPT not only did they chant the stupidest cheer ever -- overrated, they chanted it with 8 minutes to go. So not only did they diminish the great win by arguing we didn't actually beat the #11 team in the nation, they tempted karma.

Luckily, it turned out fine, and all will be forgiven. But arg that really pissed me off.

Tonight was perfect in every way, but SMU_Alum11 is right about this being the first big game all year, so don't be disappointed when Tulsa and Memphis don't measure up. Been a lot of angst over games not being the same, but lets revisit the reasons.

Year 1 everything was new and we started right out the gate walloping UCONN and then it kept going upward all through the NIT. Nothing is ever quite like the first time.

Year 2 we were on a mission to right the wrong of the previous year and make the big show. Every game mattered to us and we were ranked for most of it.

Year 3 we are pissed at probation and we end up with a big unbeaten streak which makes every game matter.

Year 4 we lose Larry and start the season with much less than a bang which leads to getting zero national respect, and our conference mates besides Cincy are really down.

Bottom line, when its a big game that matters Moody is going to rock.

Students need to see this thing through. We need big energy for Tulsa (remember Tulsa  ) and Memphis. A good turnout in Houston could make a difference. Teams will really be gunnin' for us now.

I think both the Tulsa and Memphis games will have good energy, just don't expect Saturday.

I think Moody Magic definitely helped us win the game yesterday. Hopefully the students realize they do make an impact and our team deserves their support and the students are fortunate to be able to watch this kind of team.

Karma doesn't exist. Cockiness does. Hope Cincinnati felt that slap in the face nice and hard.
