Coog High Rims???

Postby docabel » Sat Feb 18, 2017 6:50 pm

Are they painted white on the top of the rims?

At first I thought it was maybe a strange light reflection from the low ceilings, but they still look that way when viewing from the baseline shots.

I just don't ever recall seeing something like this before

The one on the left looks crooked but I think it's the stands.

Horrible arena.

Looked like the rims at the playground by my house. At least the nets were attached.

Nets gone 90 seconds after game was over (along with your hubcaps)

Rewatching the game. They do look like they're painted white on top. No idea why they do this.

It really does!!!! I assume it is from the lights since they have such a low ceiling. I would think it wouldn't be legal to have painted rims.

I think it's actually painted to be honest.

Watched the Tivo replay and I think they are painted. The "white" never moves with the camera angle like you would suspect from glare.

Even more telling is when you see a shot from the baseline (court level) looking at a free throw shooter, they sill appear white on the top.

Never seen anything like that before.

Maybe the white is dust that has been collecting for 30 years. I've never seen rim with so much give either. You can brick a shot and it will miraculously go down

Rewatching, did anyone notice the woman with a courtside seat by the basket to the left (tv-wise) that was extremely...uh...spirited? She had some of the oddest hand and arm motions pumping up the crowd I've ever seen.

Yea I was laughing at her the whole game, I think she was trying to get the crowd to stand up and cheer with her. If you notice with about 5 minutes left she gave up or she got tired

I too was wondering about what appeared to be a very stark white on the top of the rims as viewed on TV. At first I thought the paint was merely worn off the top of the rims and thus reflecting the light; however, they were much too stark for light to have merely been reflecting off worn metal rims. I wonder if this is legal as it might actually be a sight target for shooting which should be illegal.
