Yes and "had to leave Duke".

They also need to correct a date. Ban was announced in Sept. 2015, not 2016.

All in all a good read. Having Semi at SMU has been amazing. Such a great kid. Excited to see what we can do this year. And unless he flys up draft boards to first round hopefully next year, because he could be an all-time SMU great and 1st team All-American type guy next year.

He at least sounds happy here which might dissuade him from going elsewhere as a grad transfer if he does not go NBA.

Yeah I would highly doubt at this point he would leave as a grad-transfer. Seems to love it here. Gets along with the guys and he is a star getting tons of publicity being the go to guy on a top 15 team. He would get as much pub here and be able to make a run here as well as anywhere in the country next year. These next few weeks are going to be really fun to watch unfold.

Why would he leave? We could be national title contenders this year and even next year and he is the star of the show. Where can he leave and be the star on a contender?

He's not transferring anywhere. He's either gonna go pro or stay for his final season.

I didn't realize it was his AAU coach who suggested red shirting last year. Was this common knowledge when it happened?
But two weeks before a return from exile, his AAU coach called with a suggestion that was really more of a directive: Sit out yet another semester. Preserve a full year of eligibility instead of starting the clock again during a season going nowhere.

No way he is coming back next year. He is rapidly playing himself into a top ten draft pick.
