Just watched a Lunardi video analysis on the Prov. team page, and he says win, or lose vs. USC, both are ONE & DONE vs. the Stangs, "One of the Hottest teams in the country" !!!

Didn't see the USC game earlier in the season when we lost by 5, but they looked pretty decent against UCLA in the PAC tourney. Seem to have some size and length in their back court and decent guard play as well. Providence doesn't scare me at all, but we will have to play at a very high level right out of the gate in the tourney....can't have a first half like we did against Tulane or a second half like we had against ECU.

We can/should beat either team, but - as we are distressingly aware - the tournament is mercilessly unforgiving of slumps or "bad days".

That's one of the silver linings, without jinxing it, is that terrible ECU game was a shock of reality that this is a one-and-done situation. I think the conference championship is a great thing, like a lot of you, wished it wasn't 15 minutes before selection. The AAC tourney provides at least a micro-reality of the real tourney. We get a nice long break and hopefully we come out taking down a team that already got it's taste and having little momentum already from Wednesday. I know this team can beat either team and hopefully the team that played Cincy is who shows up for the tourney!

Best victories/worst losses: USC defeated Southern Methodist, 78-73, and UCLA, 84-76. Road wins against Texas A&M, 65-63, and Colorado, 71-68, contributed to a winning road record. Providence won against Rhode Island, 63-60, Xavier, 75-63, and defeated Marquette twice. The Friars also won 68-66 at Creighton.

If we get a USC rematch, they get a curb-stomping.

For those that did not watch us play USC, we had to try really hard to give them that game. We had to resort to stupid turnovers and no offensive flow to give it to them. Gone is the day of that terrible style before the aussies left
