Thoughts: So painful, again

Postby PonyLawExpress » Fri Mar 17, 2017 4:44 pm

USC was a nightmare matchup... anyone who said they wanted Providence were delusional. They are a talented team that hit some big shots when a more talented team played poorly down the stretch.

Few thoughts:
1) Jank has to call timeout at the end of that game. We had been out of sorts on offense for minutes and no timeout to get Semi and open look for the win...
2) Jank also made no quality adjustments to the USC Zone in the 2nd half..
3) I love our Seniors and I HURT for them, because the deserved more, but the both made crucial mistakes or misses down the stretch of the last minute that lost us the game... I really HURT for them
4) Dont know why we didnt force feed Semi down the stretch.
5) Shake hit some nice 3's down the stretch, but has alot of work on his game he needs to make to be an NBA or ELite PG. Right now he is just an elite shooter.
6) I really hurts to be a Mustang fan... Like I thought we would break the curse this year, but nope got a repeat of UCLA.
7) USC is not a better team or there isnt a gap where our conference SUCKS (even though it was way down this year) lets not be UConn and make those excuses, WE SHOULD have won and we fell apart.

Always support and love my Ponies.

It hurts because we had the lead for more than 38 minutes of this game...but did you ever feel comfortable?

Nope. At times I felt good, but never comfortable.

I don't know which loss hurt more the UCLA loss or the USC loss.

UCLA was more controversial, but this one hurts more, because this team I feel had more upside in the tourney.

I agree. Both were pretty stunning though as we had both games in our favor until the end.

Sorry AAC! (Let's not bag on our seniors who have been spectacular all year. I'm sure they'll be haunted enough!)

Pretty much tied for me, for the same reasons others have mentioned.

Agree that UCLA loss hurt worse because with the upset before our game, we would have had a relatively easy path to sweet 16. How many people bought into the hype and thought we would beat Baylor, then Duke, then Nova? Sure would have been nice to have the opportunity, but life goes on...

We definitely would have beat Baylor and had a good chance against Duke. Beating Villanova would have required luck.

We are the Charlie Brown of athletic programs. Our opponent is always Lucy.

Sure looked like we wore down at the end. A deeper bench by USC helped them a lot.

that was a concern coming in and the early pace had me concerned, despite our lead. Intense bball for 40 minutes except those we controlled on offense. This loss hurts, but as someone pointed out: 67 of the 68 teams in this tourney will have their seasons and/or careers end in hearbreak
