2018 Roster needs some SIZE!

Postby Texasscout96 » Sat Mar 18, 2017 10:57 am

Whether Semi goes pro or stays, I hope the coaches are recruiting some size. I like the fact that all the players rotate around all positions, but if we had a True 6'10/6'11 Center, it would give our team a whole new element.

Any idea if the coaches agree with me? Or am I just hoping?

I think they are looking for a quality big like that.

They 100% agree with you that we need another big with size. I'm sure they would love to get a very athletic 6'10 guy, but those don't grow on trees. And we don't want a big stiff 6'11 guy that doesn't fit our team. I would settle for a athletic 6'8-6'9 guy who is a good rebounder and defender. Ideally would like a huge big guy, but the staff is also going to be looking for fit and looking at what is available.

Like on this years team we needed another big, but a guy like Tolbert would have taken this team to the next level not a 6'11 unathletic guy.

From what i have been told Jank is an outside offense type of coach totally unlike LB. So getting a really good big guy might be harder since they won't get the ball that much on offense, just board like Ben did.

He does like Ray, Chargois, and Semi guys who are stretch forwards who can also rebound. That being said he likely knows he needs at least one true big and even though you probably don't get a sexy role, being the only guy on the team that fills that role can be a sell for a big, because you know you will get minutes in that role on a good team.

I just want length that can pass. That was gone when Ben was out, and it was the one thing Froling could do when he was here really well. I'll take a tough 6'8-6'9 guy who can pass over more height any day. We need two of them.

Thank you for that. I need a little (realistic) optimism in my life today.

We had a 6'10" guy who added very little; any big guy needs to be athletic and have multiple skills. I was impressed by the athleticism of USC's bigs...not to mention clutch FT shooting

So all we need is a Boatwright of our own? Is that all?

That wouldn't hurt. A Boatwright or a Metu. Or both. LOL

Before we get too deep in this thread, are we sure we are all qualified D1-A basketball coaches with a minimum of 30 wins in a season under our belt and a least one NCAA tournament appearance?
