I wish Deshawn all the best. I'm glad he stuck it out for the full season and didn't bail after 10 games like the Aussies. I hope lessons have been learned by the staff from the 2016 class experience.

This is 180 degrees out from the Wilson and Froling scenario. He worked his [deleted] off and was a core part of the family this year. Just didn't work out.

Bummer. I certainly appreciate how hard he worked and that he stayed with the team the entire year.

Don't forget about Whitt in addition to McMurray. Plus the incoming guards and Shake and GU.

Losing an entire recruiting class will always come back to bite you. We will go through growing pains next year with so many players new to the system and McMurray not eligible until later in the season.

That said, with schollie restrictions, you can't afford to be 4 deep at one spot.

Perhaps this leaves the door open for two bigs - a Grad Transfer AND a JUCO.

Missing an entire class doesn't matter in this era of transfer and forced attrition. Whitt is a soph next year In terms of eligibility, we'll end up w another in next year or two in his class.

I don't see how this particular loss hurts us in any way. McDowell wasn't going to contribute next year with how many guards we have. He might have contributed down the line, but with our restrictions this allows us to likely add another big (which we need) either for next season or for the future, along with a grad-transfer.

Jank just gets the opportunity to add more pieces that fit his style and vision. MFFL is right. Shake, Whitt, Jarrey, McMurray and Gu will dominate most of the minutes at 1-3. And that's not mentioning Landrum and 4-Star William Douglas who likely one of them will find the rotation, especially before McMurray is eligible. There weren't enough minutes to go around at guard for McDowell (I'm sure the staff probably was honest with him and told him that).

You have to give Deshawn a lot of credit for how he handled the situation. Pretty mature for a nineteen year old. Stayed classy the entire season when I'm sure he was very frustrated. I wish him nothing but the best.
